Dark SignsNelle paludi ai confini del mondo, un ragazzo lucertoloide tiene il conto dei suoi giorni incidendoli nella corteccia di un albero, e là fuori, sulla Breccia, la nebbia ha cominciato a respirare. Su un fiume conteso tra due signori, una traghettatrice porta una bambina di là dall'acqua per volere del Re, e scopre quanto costi quella parola. Su uno scoglio-prigione al largo della città di Greymist, un mercenario marchiato e senza nome tiene corte ogni mattina per un corvo, e la sua lingua sta per costargli più del suo volto. E in un villaggio chiamato Greenest, una ragazza comincia a sognare.
Revelýa è un impero sotto un Re Incappucciato, la cui parola viaggia con i suoi cavalieri ed è custodita dagli Hush, che arrivano sulle ali nella notte quando viene infranta.
