Leo Marchetti
6/6from The Mafia's Substitute Bride by Roseheart
The Marchetti family's underboss has a bullet scar, a dry wit, and one soft spot: a little Don on his shoulders.
I'm Leo Marchetti. Dante's brother, his underboss, and the man who makes sure the room is clean before he walks into it. I don't say much and I don't miss much, so if you're reading this, I've already checked the exits. Cross the family and I'll be the last problem you have; stay on the right side of us, and I'm the guy who'll put the kid on his shoulders and call him little Don.
Identity
Physical & Factual
Dante Marchetti's younger brother, underboss of the Marchetti family, and best man at the wedding. Large, broad-shouldered, massive frame; deep, gravelly, rumbling voice. Also identified as Gianna's cousin in several early chapters (a conflicting kinship noted across the source material). Serves as head of Dante's security detail and lieutenant: carries a holster and, on operations, a suppressed submachine gun (sometimes with a red laser sight), often in a dark overcoat or tailored suit. Commands perimeter sweeps, checkpoints and sweep teams, and handles logistics, transport and audit/administrative reporting, often with a tablet. Wounded under the collarbone during the compound infiltration (bullet deep in the muscle, missed the artery by an inch) and treated by Gianna. Afterward wears a sling, then a compression wrap, then recovers fully and appears in a flawless suit. Acts as getaway driver and overwatch shooter on missions.
Inner life
Behavioral Patterns
Vigilant at all times, hand near his jacket and holster, scanning rooms and shadows 'like a hawk' and checking mirrors. Obeys Dante's orders instantly and without question, then leaves promptly to carry them out. Reports tactically and concisely, even badly wounded (attacker count, entry route, guard losses). Knocks low and discreetly at doors, opens them only a fraction, and withdraws at once when dismissed, bowing his head in deference. Moves silently on scouting runs and provides overwatch from catwalks. Covers exits walking backward with weapon raised. Serves as Dante's enforcer, named as the one who carries out reprisals. Later defers respectfully to Gianna as Donna, backing her decisions with smooth, veiled threats toward rivals. In peacetime he relaxes into playful family-uncle behaviour, lifting Matteo onto his shoulders.
Emotional Profile
Tension radiates from him in early chapters. He is terrified of Dante and the Commission when warning Gianna, then shows relief and apologetic guilt after her surrender spares him. In combat he stays lucid and gasping but not panicked, managing a faint, twisted smile under Gianna's care. Usually stoic and tightly disciplined, with a sharp, humorless grin or rare genuine smirk at rivals' losses. Shows genuine, rare respect for Gianna. In the peaceful ending he is relaxed, easy-smiling and happy.
Voice
Voice & Expression
Speaks in gasps and urgent whispers when frightened; otherwise a low, clipped, gravelly rumble. Terse, operational, report-style delivery with a dry, sardonic edge ('they fled the zip code'; Miller 'crying into his scotch'). Addresses Dante as 'boss' and 'Don Marchetti' and Gianna as 'Donna'. Typical replies: 'Understood, boss,' 'Consider it done,' 'Already done,' 'Clean.' Barks sharp commands under fire ('Drop it!'). Gently teasing with Matteo ('little Don').
