The Twelfth Verse

A letter comes to Greymark under a white flag, sealed in black wax on a sleeping Queen's paper: Felix. Your mother has asked for you. Come home.

It isn't true. Everyone knows it's a trap. Felix is going anyway, and Fabian won't let him go alone.

Named Blue at last and sent as the Crown's envoy, Fabian crosses the Gloamwood on a road that has cut the forest in half, with Liesel beside him, his sisters' voices in his chest, and a bottle chalked For her in his friend's coat. Behind him, Greymark still has no gate. Ahead lies Fulmara, where a man's blessing belongs to the throne, and a smiling regent wants the Saint and every woman he holds.

Fabian has always asked before he heals. In Bellonia, asking the wrong person could cost him everything.
