Birdy
An ancient air elemental and empath who can sense the emotions and convictions of those around her without knowing their thoughts or truths. She materializes from dust, vapor, and moving air, often appearing only as a translucent human shape. Curious, observant, and fiercely loyal once committed, she becomes Hul’s closest companion and the person most aware of the emotional consequences gathering around him.

Cardinal Frost
A weathered, ordinary-looking man whose absolute belief in Hul drives him across twenty nights of open country to find him. Humble, useful, and completely sincere, Maretti becomes Hul’s first true believer and gradually begins acting as interpreter, caretaker, and intermediary. His conviction is genuine, but sincerity does not make him harmless.

Dani
A young girl whose death eventually becomes one of the deepest moral wounds in Hul’s religion. Gentle, perceptive, and emotionally direct, she later appears through astral projection to guide others toward the truth of what happened to her. Unlike the powerful figures around her, Dani matters because she is ordinary, vulnerable, and impossible to justify sacrificing.

Tier'gan Hul
A nine-foot-tall fallen angelic being with olive-gray skin, thick black Greco-curled hair, and enormous black wings that flash green and violet in the light. Quiet, grave, and difficult to read, Hul listens far more than he speaks. His voice is deep enough to rattle the chest, and his words often come as simple parables that others give far more meaning than he intends.

A faith is forming without its founder's knowledge. By the time twenty pilgrims arrive carrying the proof, the question is no longer whether Hul is what they believe. The question is whether it matters.
Those Who Come is the second book of the Fallen trilogy. A being who wanted to go home discovers the world won't let him leave. And the one person who sees everything cannot decide whether to stop it.

When They BowThe way home is open. He does not take it.
Hul sits in a stone seat in a valley called Cratersfall, surrounded by a faith he did not author, served by people who speak in his name, watched by a girl at the margin who does not kneel. He chose the ground over the sky. He chose it because of her.
Birdie, who has been invisible for the entire story, places her hand on his shoulder and lets the world see her for the first time.
