Read chapter one of anything
Last checked against the product October 2, 2026
A blurb tells you what a book is about. Only the first chapter tells you whether you want to read it. On Novelmint that chapter is free for every book: the whole chapter, with no cutoff halfway down the page, no account, and no card. If it is not for you, you have lost nothing and you owe nothing.
Key takeaways
- Chapter one of every book on Novelmint is free.
- It is the whole chapter. There is no word limit or preview cutoff.
- You do not need an account or a payment method to read it.
- Where a book has narration, the first chapter’s audio is free too.
- You can leave a star rating on a free chapter without signing in, once you have read it.
What it does
What "free" covers
Every book
The rule applies to the whole library. An author cannot switch it off for their book.
The full chapter
You read to the last line of chapter one. Nothing is held back to make you sign up.
No account
Open the book and read. An account only matters when you want to unlock chapter two or save your place.
The audio as well
If the book is narrated, chapter one can be listened to at no cost.
How to use it
How to use it
Pick a book
From a genre shelf, new releases, or a reading list someone made.
Open chapter one
It opens straight away.
Decide
If you want chapter two, that is the point to make a free account.
If you are an author
Your first chapter does the selling
Because chapter one is always free, a reader who finds your book can start it in the same click. Nobody has to trust a blurb. It also means chapter one is the chapter to spend the most care on.
